Pierrot Lamp

Afra + Tobia Scarpa

Designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Flos, Pierrot is a table lamp conceived around clarity, versatility, and a direct relationship between object and user. Combining direct, indirect, and diffused illumination, the lamp was designed as an alternative to both stylistic conformity and the use of technology for its own sake. Its essential form is matched by an equally minimal construction. Pierrot is made from a composite material more commonly used in the manufacture of printed circuit boards and is supplied as a self-assembly object, making the act of putting the lamp together part of the design experience. The support structure releases with a simple snap for easy installation or removal, while an accessible lever allows the light source to be directed either upwards or downwards.
