Globlow Lamp

Snowcrash

Globlow is a sculptural light defined by movement, air and fabric. When switched on, an internal fan gradually inflates its white rip-stop nylon shade, transforming a collapsed textile skin into a softly glowing volume. Created in 1996 by Vesa Hinkola, Markus Nevalainen and Rane Vaskivuori, the lamp reflects Snowcrash’s experimental approach to design. Rather than using a conventional rigid shade, Globlow combines lightweight technical material with simple mechanics to create an object that feels soft, temporary and almost alive. Its changing form gives the lamp a performative quality, with illumination and transformation happening at once. Globlow entered the Museum of Modern Art’s design collection in 1998.
