German avant-garde chair
Studio production
A striking studio-produced chair that reflects the uncompromising formal language of German avant-garde design. Defined by clarity of line and structural precision, the design is reduced to its essential components, allowing proportion, material, and construction to become the primary means of expression. The welded square-section steel frame forms a bold, graphic outline that lends the chair a distinctly architectural presence. Seat and backrest, executed in natural multiplex plywood, are intentionally separated, creating a subtle tension between the two planes while emphasizing the honesty of the construction. The tall backrest, tapering gently towards the top, introduces a strong vertical rhythm that contrasts with the chair's low, grounded stance. Precisely beveled edges soften the geometry just enough to reveal the care invested in its execution, resulting in an object that feels both rigorous and refined.
