Yantra T vase

Masanori Umeda

The Yantra T Vase is a sculptural design by Japanese designer Masanori Umeda, created in collaboration with the traditional Japanese lacquerware manufacturer MaruTomi in the 1990s. Umeda, known for his postmodern creations with the Memphis Group, infused this piece with a blend of Eastern and Western aesthetics. Crafted from lacquered plastic, the vase features a circular base with three geometric, tiered columns in varying heights. Each column is topped with a bright red triangular accent, adding a touch of color and contrast to the black tones of the base and columns. Magnets embedded in the structure allow for dynamic arrangement and reconfiguration, reflecting Umeda's interest in interactive design.
