Orgone Chair
Marc Newson
A sculptural icon of post‑Lockheed design, Marc Newson’s Orgone Chair represents a leap forward in fluid geometry and material innovation. Originally crafted in 1993 as a limited edition of six (plus artist proofs) in hand‑formed mirror‑polished aluminum, the chair was shaped using Aston Martin coach‑building techniques—hammered, rolled, and welded to create a seamless, organic “hourglass” form. In 1998, a more accessible rotationally molded polypropylene version debuted, maintaining the same iconic proportions and sculptural spirit but in durable plastic.
