Enzo Mari

Rare vintage Bilancia perpetual wall calendar by Enzo Mari for Danese Milano, originally designed in 1959 and here found in an early plastic version. The calendar is operated entirely by hand: the horizontal strips are slid through the central frame to align the day, date and month, while the fourth element acts as a counterweight, maintaining the structure in balance. The design exemplifies Mari’s belief in clarity, economy and function - nothing is ornamental or concealed; every element has a purpose and the mechanism itself becomes the visual language of the object.
